Commercialization of cooking show

A new reality TV series, "Iron Chef Australia" will start airing on October 19 at 7.30 pm for Australian audience. The program is derived from the Japanese TV seriesRyori No Tetsujin”, which translates as Ironmen of Cooking; and it has been aired almost a decade which then controlled by the chairman of the Iron Chef Takeshi Kaga. The show also been highlighted in the U.S. market about two times in 2001 and 2004. However, only the second show in 2004 has successfully attracted of the audience and captured the hearts of viewers after it was failed in the 2001.

I think this program is expected to be received by the audience it was quite different due to the different of cooking format than the original program and the inaugural show. While the Iron Chef consists of three top chefs (Guy Grossi from Melbourne, Neil Perry and Guillaume Brahimi from Sydney) are talented and have a big name in the cooking industry. I also expect that the show would attract more viewers because it will play on prime time slot in TV. Besides, it probably would be accompanied by the talented and famous chefs in the culinary field. This program will also be judged by prominent judges in this field.

I hope that I will not miss the Iron Chef program. It is seen, as based on my experience watching Iron Chef on Japan’s edition, the show is undeniably great talent and an instant hit among viewers. According to the article ‘More irons in the fire’ which was publish by The Sydney Morning Herald on 11 October 2010, Australian Iron Chef would has a different approach than the original plan which is certainly promises a big impact in the culinary world. Apart from that, I also believe that this show would have a place in the hearts of viewers because the cooking industry increased since two and three years ago. The MasterChef cooking show is one of the evidence that the cooking show will attract a large number of audiences in Australia. I think, especially people in Australia prefer cooking shows rather than political debates, so it's no wonder all the reality cooking TV shows received encouraging response.
